Jaber al-Mahjoub is born on Jan. 5, 1938 in M’Saken, Tunisia. Self-taught artist discovered by Jean Dubuffet.

Successively shepherd, baker, boxer, he finally became comedian, draftsman, poet and singer in Paris’ streets, where he still lives most of the time, in moderate financial and material conditions.

His works (gouache and acrylic paintings, plaster sculptures) are colourfull, with black-rounded figures, and numerous repetitive inscriptions done of few words and numbers. Everything is created with poor materials. His favorite subjects are french politician life, oriental or parisian scenes.

His work is part of numerous outsider art collections, throughout the world.
